Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi Visits mAgri Stall

The Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi graced the mAgri stall with his presence at the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The mAgri team was invited to the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day on the May 17th 2015 in Gantsi. The purpose of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) was to help raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICT) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.

The Brastorne team set up an m-Agri stall at the event and executed a presentation to educate the audience about mAgri and its use of ICT to bridge the gap between farmers, markets and merchants in order to give farmers access to markets. The crowd was intrigued and very receptive of the mAgri concept. Among the audience was the Vice President, Mokgweetsi Masisi, and The minister of Transport and communications, Honorable Tshenolo Mabeo.

The Vice President appreciated the idea and said it was innovative, unique and said he that he intended on attempting to use it himself as he is also a farmer.

mAgri also engaged in a workshop with Gantsi farmers associations and showed them how mAgri works and how it would benefit the farmers and improve their farming techniques and networking. The audience gave a positive response to mAgri and the event ended on a high note, greatly benefitting both mAgri and the audience who were introduced to the innovative idea.
